Plagiarism and AI Policy
Hymnos: Jurnal Teologi dan Keagamaan Kristen is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. All submitted manuscripts must be original works and free from any form of plagiarism or unethical use of artificial intelligence (AI).
1. Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to this journal will be screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality. The journal defines plagiarism as the use of others’ ideas, words, data, or work without proper acknowledgment.
The following practices are considered unacceptable:
- Direct copying (verbatim plagiarism) without citation
- Paraphrasing without proper attribution
- Self-plagiarism (reusing previously published work without disclosure)
- Data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation
Manuscripts found to contain significant plagiarism (generally above 15–20% similarity index, excluding references and properly cited quotations) will be:
- Rejected immediately during the initial screening stage, or
- Returned to authors for revision (in cases of minor similarity issues)
In cases of severe ethical violations, the editorial board reserves the right to:
- Reject the manuscript permanently
- Notify the author’s affiliated institution
- Retract published articles if misconduct is discovered post-publication
2. AI Usage Policy
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools (such as ChatGPT or similar technologies) is permitted under strict ethical guidelines.
Authors must ensure that:
- AI tools are used only as supporting tools (e.g., for language editing, grammar checking, or idea structuring)
- AI is not used to generate core scholarly arguments, data analysis, or theological interpretations without critical human oversight
- All content generated with AI assistance is carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the author
3. Disclosure of AI Use
Authors are required to clearly disclose any use of AI tools in the manuscript. This disclosure should be included in a separate section (e.g., Acknowledgment or Methodology), stating:
- The name of the AI tool used
- The purpose of its use
Example:
“The author used AI-based tools for language refinement and grammar checking. All intellectual content and interpretations remain the sole responsibility of the author.”
Failure to disclose the use of AI tools may result in rejection of the manuscript.
4. Responsibility and Accountability
Authors bear full responsibility for:
- The accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work
- Ensuring that AI-generated content does not introduce bias, inaccuracies, or ethical violations
AI tools cannot be listed as authors, as they do not meet the criteria for authorship and accountability.
